Past Deal:
$300s and Up - Round-Trip to Southeast Asia from Multiple US Cities on Star Alliance in Spring and Fall
$300+ to S. E. Asia
Note: This is a fun one, but a little complicated, so be ready to try out different date combinations to get the best price. Like all our deals, try to book as soon as possible before it goes away. Found a great flight? Have questions on how to book? Shoot us a note at feedback@dealray.com
Right now, you can grab super-cheap fares from multiple US cities to Bangkok BKK, Singapore SIN, or Manila MNL starting at prices in the $300s. The way these work is with multiple-destination searching, with the final leg from your US destination to a Canadian city (you will have to collect your baggage in the US and just leave the airport, you won't be forced onto the next flight. The airline may be annoyed but if you don't provide your frequent flier number there's not much they can do about it). Travel dates are in the late Spring or the Fall.
Follow the guide below to find and book flights. Finding flights can be done on Google Flights, and booking done on Orbitz.
Finding flights:
While it's not as easy to find flights for this particular deal as usual, Google Flights is still helpful. Once you found your flight, keep reading for instructions on how to book on Orbitz.
For your preferred departure city, start with the example links below, and adjust the dates with the right-left arrows on Google Flights. Prices may fluctuate somewhat but typically within $100
Example:
New York to Bangkok:
For this to work, you need one US city, one S.E. Asian city, and one Canadian city.
US Cities:Los Angeles LAX from $302
San Francisco SFO from $368
Washington IAD from $428
Houston IAH from $422
Chicago ORD from $565
Denver DEN from $555
S.E. Asian Cities:Bangkok BKK
Singapore SIN
Manila MNL
Canadian Cities:
Montreal YUL
Toronto YYZ
Vancouver YVR
Experiment with switching to the other Canadian cities on the last leg to see which gives the lowest price, along with tweaking dates.
Even if you aren't near the departure cities, at these prices, booking a separate round-trip from your home city to one of these departure cities will still likely save you multiple hundreds of dollars vs. buying a ticket from your home airport.
See example of Google Flights interface below, then keep reading for booking instructions.
Booking flights:
Once you found a flight you like, head to
Orbitz and perform a Multi-City search with the same airports and dates. Book now and make a decision later as Orbitz allows cancellation until 10PM CST the following day after booking (if you can't find the price on Orbitz, try
TripAdvisor Multi-City search, or
Hipmunk)
An example is below for New York to Bangkok and back, with the third flight from New York to Montreal:
With the resulting flights priced at just $338.45
